While browsing the web with my NatsuNui, we came across a file that couldn’t be downloaded without a Baidu account. Needless to say, fulfilling Natsu’s wishes is the mark of a strong man(alpha male).
However, when I searched for terms like “how to create a Baidu account,” most of the information was outdated, and the old workarounds were already blocked. As a result, I ended up making Natsu wait for an hour.
So here, I’m leaving a note on how to create a Baidu account as of 2025, for future reference.
It’s Not Possible via the Official Route, But…
As is typical with Chinese web services, they dislike access from abroad.
Well, we are technically from a “hostile country,” so I guess that’s to be expected.
If you try to create an account directly on Baidu’s website, you’ll get a message saying you need a Chinese phone number to register — a major dead end.
But don’t give up just yet.
Step 1: Download the “Haokan Video” App (好看视频)
You’ll probably get a warning saying it’s a risky app, but since we’re handing over our info to China anyway, it’s just part of the cost. Be mentally prepared.

Once installed, tap “我的 (Mine)” in the bottom right.
then click the 登録（Regisration）at the top button .
Step 2: Register with Your Japanese Phone Number
You’ll be taken to the phone number registration screen. Change the country code to +81 (Japan),+1(US) or your country code and enter your number without the leading zero (e.g., +81 9011451419).
You should receive an SMS within a few seconds. If not, wait a minute and press the resend button. Then pray for a message to arrive from China.
Step 3: Set Nickname and Password
After receiving the code, enter a nickname and set your password — and just like that, you’ve got yourself a Baidu account!

Final Notes
It’s unclear how long this method will keep working, but as long as you create your account now, things should go smoothly later. If you want to access Chinese porn, software, or images via Baidu Netdisk, this is essential — do it ASAP.
At Natsu Plushie Editorial, we worked hard because the Blue Archive mouse cursor icon distributed by a Chinese illustrator was only available via Baidu Netdisk.
Bonus Tip
According to SmileTabLabo Wiki, it’s also possible to use Baidu Netdisk via a QQ account.
If you’re looking to access shady Chinese content, it’s probably smart to download QQ International and create an account — you’ll need it sooner or later.
